Libraries play an important role in intellectual formation. At the parish level, a library is a valuable complement to adult and youth faith formation programs. Parish libraries can provide spiritual enrichment resources to parishioners who may not have much of a budget for books.
Over the years generous folks have donated books and other media to St. Nick’s. To date our parish has nearly 600 items, which are spread out across several locations on campus - in the adoration chapel and in the church (vestibule and basement). With a collection of this size, how do we keep track of all books and audiovisual materials we have?
We are excited to announce that our library materials are now available for parishioners to browse online - anywhere, anytime (https://www.librarycat.org/lib/STNCC-Library). The online catalog allows one to search by author, title, and subject; or browse by collection and genre. Each catalog entry provides the physical location of the item, in addition to the collection (category) it belongs to.
Books, DVDs and CDs are available for check out any time when the adoration chapel or church are open. There are white binders at each location; where you will find an easy-to-use self-checkout form. Materials may be checked out for two weeks.
The St. Nicholas Parish Library is a treasure trove of resources for adults, teens and children. We have a wide variety of Catholic books and audio-visuals; including materials on prayer, adoration, spirituality, sacred scripture, the sacraments, family life, church history, papal teachings and biographies of saints. We also have a collection of classic fiction recommended by Father Rudolph - great novels that can “increase our ability to touch the hearts of others for Jesus.”
