PARISH LAWSUIT WARNING
Several parishes in our Archdiocese may be sued by sex abuse claimants in the next four to six weeks. These lawsuits are the result of the three-year lifting of the statute of limitations (Child Victims Act). By law, all sex abuse claims against parishes subject to the Child Victims Act must be placed in suit on or before May 26, 2016. At this time, we have not received any notice of claims against our parish and we do not expect to be sued. If that situation changes, we will let you know immediately. The Archdiocese and parish attorneys/counsel are making every effort to resolve the cases against the parishes in the course of the ongoing bankruptcy proceedings, and they are hopeful that the cases will be resolved in a fair and equitable manner in the coming months.
