This week, contractors that are planning to bid on the project visited St. Nicholas to do a walkthrough. This will help them get an accurate price to perform the work. The air conditioning installation for the JPII has been rescheduled to begin in mid-September. 8/25/2021 Dear wonderful parishioners of St. Nicholas, I'd like to give you an update on the progress of the installation of the lift and associated construction work that so many of you are donating so generously toward through our capital campaign. On August 18th I signed the contract for the work with Loeffler Construction & Consulting. It was also signed by Doug Loeffler, its President and CEO, who is also a St. Nicholas parishioner. The contract contains a draft schedule. It calls for the bidding, subcontracting and procurement processes to be going on now through September, exterior work to begin around the end of September, interior work begin October 4th (the Memorial of St. Francis of Assisi--to whom God said "Rebuild my Church"--how appropriate!) and the work to be substantially completed around the middle of December. Also, yesterday the Project Executive, Project Manager and Superintendent from Loeffler came to St. Nicholas to look at the site. (The Project Executive has been here a number of times before.) The three of them also asked Karen Johnson and me some questions and gave us the opportunity to ask questions. I am very impressed with the team. I look forward to seeing the end results of God's provision and inspiration, your generosity and ideas, and the planning and work of the folks at Station 19 Architects, and Loeffler Construction and Consulting. Also, let's thank God for the abundant rain yesterday and all His blessings! Sincerely in Christ, Father Rudolph As of 8/25/2021, the total pledged is $943,506 and the total payments received is $278,192. THANK YOU to all who have made a commitment! I am especially happy to announce that all of the physical projects as part of the campaign are fully pledged! We are not quite at our 1 Million dollar goal yet, but the remaining portion is for the maintenance fund, rather than immediate remodeling projects. This means that all the projects designated in the capital campaign will be able to be completed as proposed! This is wonderful news for our parish. First up is the elevator lift project. We have already begun moving forward with this project and anticipate construction beginning before the end of the summer. Trying to predict cash flow over the next three years is a little bit tricky, however, here is what we are anticipating. We currently have enough cash flow to complete the elevator lift project and a little more left over to complete some smaller projects yet this summer. Therefore, we have prioritized two of the projects in the JP2 building—electrical and air conditioning—which will allow us to move into that building this summer. Tuckpointing is a very important priority, therefore, we are scheduling that work to begin next Spring as we anticipate cash flow being sufficient to complete all the tuckpointing next Spring and Summer. Additionally, rather than trying to do a little tuckpointing this year still and then the rest next year, we thought it would be best to have it all done at once to make more efficient use of the big equipment being on our campus just once rather than two or more separate times. Looking further out, cash flow will determine how quickly we will be able to accomplish the remaining projects. My hope is that in 2022, we will not only be able to do the tuckpointing, but perhaps also the sidewalk repairs and replace the doors and windows on the JP2 building. Or those projects may have to wait until 2023. The final phase of the Campaign will be focusing on the rectory remodel project. The other smaller projects—the church restroom work, the speakers in church, and the furnace in the rectory—have not yet been determined exactly when they will be completed. They may need to be done sooner than later depending upon how they continue to function. As we wrap up our Campaign kickoff and begin the actual projects, we will keep you updated on our progress in the weekly bulletin through the “Capital Campaign Corner”. Thank you again for your support of our parish and our Capital Campaign! I look forward to the accomplishment of all these wonderful projects on our campus! You are in my daily prayers.
