“My brothers and sisters, I can’t even begin to tell you how encouraged I am to be with you this evening and to see how it is that your community comes together to recognize the primacy of Jesus, to recognize that indeed it’s the Lord who’s present in the Blessed Sacrament.” -Archbishop Bernard Hebda (guest presider at “Ave Verum Corpus”, Nov. 10, 2023)
“I was on my knees in adoration when the music began and I wasn’t able to move from that position during that entire time. It just felt like whatever prayers were being offered at that time went straight to God in the most amazing way.” -Sue Roufs, attendee
“The perfect combination to praise, worship and adore Jesus in the Blessed Sacrament, with the chosen classical and sacred music, reverently done together with our Adoration and silent prayer. I felt like I died and went to Heaven, honestly.” - Karen Tupy, attendee
St. Nicholas periodically hosts a musical Eucharistic event we call “Ave Verum Corpus,” meaning “Hail, True Body.” This event begins with a period of Exposition and Adoration in the main church, under candlelight, and with our Choir presenting beautiful sacred music, both chant and polyphony. The period of musical Adoration is followed by Vespers and Benediction, led by our Pastor or special guest. The service typically lasts 60-90 minutes. This event is generally held on Friday evenings and is open to everyone. Consult our parish calendar for future events.

“Ave Verum Corpus” – Returning Fall of 2024! One exciting change for the 2024-25 season is that we are inviting guest clergy from our archdiocese to deliver homilies on the Eucharist at each of our events. We already have two very gifted homilists who’ve accepted invitations, with other invitations pending.
For our November event, we will be welcoming pastors and parishioners from our neighboring parishes of St. Dominic’s – Northfield, St. Michael’s – Farmington, and Immaculate Conception – Lonsdale. Musicians from each of these parishes will also join our choir in presenting the music.
Our St. Nicholas Choir is planning several new pieces of music for the 2024-25 season, including pieces by the great classical composers of the Church, sacred Chant, and a piece composed by our music director, Ryan Flicek which is set to the text of the “Ave Maria.”
